MINUTES
PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
AUGUST 21, 2003
PRESENT: Bill Habein, Marty Nelson, Karl Moon, Mark Hallan, and John
Derksen. ABSENT: Tom Woog, Cheri Seils and Joe Dotty.
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Charles Marohn.
The meeting was called to order by Karl Moon, Commission Vice-Chairman at
6:53 p.m.
APPLICANT: Warren and Ann Sunderland
Applicant requests rezoning in the Medium Density Residential District to the
Exempt Commercial Zoning Classification.
Applicant was present: Ann Sunderland, 11653 Ivy Bay Lane, Breezy Point.
Mr. Marohn explained his Staff Report, which recommended approval of the
rezone request, as an Exempt Commercial zoning classification is consistent with
the long range vision for this part of the City. He also pointed out that the
Ordinance would need to be changed to allow that type of use.
Mrs. Sunderland stated that she felt it was a good fit for that area as Salon
Couture is located on the corner and other businesses close by. Parking would
not be an issue and parking would be provided behind the building, not in front.
A survey at their current location over the past 3 months indicated there would be
no more than 5 vehicles at one time.
Mr. Marohn stated that there are no parking requirements in the Exempt
Commercial zone.
A motion was made by John Derksen, seconded by Marty Nelson, to approve the
rezoning request based on the findings of fact. ROLL CALL VOTE: Bill Habein,
aye; Marty Nelson, aye; Mark Hallan, aye; John Derksen, aye. All "ayes".
Motion carried.
ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA:
8. A. Von-Ro, Rog Hardy
B. Payment Policy
9. B. Screen Porch
