`- MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2013 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Akerson, Gardner, <br /> Pederson, and Sjoblad <br /> Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works <br /> Supervisor; Tim Houle City Engineer; and Dawn Bittner, <br /> Zoning Administrator; Eric Klang, Chief of Police <br /> The Council offered ideas for the future five-years or more for Pequot Lakes. <br /> After the ideas were offered, the Council chose those they deemed highest <br /> priority. <br /> 1. Parks and Amenities - to draw people to town and keep them here: <br /> • (1) - Sibley Park— (replace stairs, upgrade lighting and modernize park) <br /> • (2) - Splash Park— (perhaps with winter skating rink) <br /> • (3) — Bike, snowmobile and walking trails — (including to Sibley Lake Park) <br /> • Parks in general <br /> .- • Community garden <br /> • Acquire center of town park from DNR <br /> • Community center <br /> • Dog park <br /> • Cole Memorial Building uses <br /> • Indoor hockey rink <br /> • Summer-time restrooms <br /> 2. Big picture finance <br /> • (1) - Taxes (urban and rural taxing districts —Amend Annexation <br /> Agreement) <br /> • (2) - Revolving loan fund <br /> • (3) — Incentives for vacant lot development (in-fill lots) <br /> • Bonding <br /> (Item Numbers 1-3 will be given to the Economic Development Committee <br /> for research and recommendation to the City Council. There is an <br /> emphasis on #1. The Council requested a timeline for completion and <br /> process. The process should include a committee of those who worked on <br /> the annexation). <br />
