This is a somewhat variable number based on the hours the plant operates, the gallons per square foot applied to the filters,the resulting water quality desired, and any water tower/ storage/demand limitations on the system. To keep as simple as possible, we will take a look at the water treatment plant capacity. Water capacity at 300 gpm and 8 hrs/day =52,560,000 gallons per year Water capacity at 300 gpm and 12 hrs/day =78,840,000 gallons per year Water capacity at 300 gpm and 16 hrs/day = 105,120,000 gallons per year One way is to calculate the WAC using the full system capacity. "Permitted"water flow 78,000,000 gallons per year Water ERC 38,800 gallons per year Water capacity =2,010 ERCs Estimated water capital cost $3,800,000 Water cost per ERC, or WAC $1,890 Another way is to calculate the WAC using the remaining system capacity.
