The EDC indicated <br /> it could get the word out that broadband service is available in the area. <br /> 4. Resilient Region Project <br /> Chair Jurchen updated the Commission members on the Resilient Region meeting <br /> he and Bill Stroot attended. Bill Stroot attended the Energy Program and reported <br /> that solar energy is economical at the residential level and is the fastest growing <br /> technology. Commissioner Jurchen commented on the educational/workforce <br /> program. He noted that there are jobs available but we are not training or <br /> communicating the need for certain types of jobs. <br /> 6. Turnback Committee Report <br /> Mayor Adams explained that the Council reviewed the Turnback Committee <br /> report. The Council has directed the report to be sent to the County and to <br /> MnDOT to begin negotiations. <br /> 7. BAEDC Update <br /> Sheila Haverkamp updated the Council on promoting technology awareness in the <br /> Brainerd Lakes Area. She noted that there is a need to begin branding the area to <br /> inform people that we are "Tech Ready." She also noted that there is a need for <br /> career path counseling at the high school level. Sheila explained the "Rent a <br /> Board"program to the EDC members. <br /> 8. Chamber Update <br /> Mark Jurchen noted that the new Chamber Executive, Matt Killian, is now on <br /> board. Mark gave an update on the Governor's Opener. He also noted that there is <br /> a need for a Pequot Lakes-Breezy Point liaison to serve on the Chamber Board. <br /> 9. February Agenda Items <br /> • Connectivity <br /> • Marketing <br /> 10.
