City of Pequot Lakes
December 15, 2010
➢ Broad Range of Resources - Including Funding Assistance - That are Close and Cost-Effective
It is not only the knowledge and experience of Tim and Mike that you are acquiring in selecting WSN
as your City Engineer. We have approximately 40 employees in our BrainerdBaxter office with a total
of about 150 employees in our Greater Minnesota offices. They include architects, civil engineers,
funding assistance experts, electrical and mechanical engineers, environmental professionals,
information technology specialists, marketing personnel, surveyors, and technicians in all of these
areas. We have people that are under 1/2 hour away that can provide their expertise — even with
today's communication technology, there is no substitute far face-to-face assistance.
➢ Part of the Community — Keeping Your Tax Dollars Close To Home
Our employees and their families live, work, go to school, recreate, and pay taxes in this County and
in areas around the City. Any City tax dollars that are used for our services go right back into this area
of the State. We participate in and donate to Chamber and area events. We give our time for Project
Lead the Way and Bridges Academies and Workplace Connection for area Schools. Being a member
of the communities we serve, we interact with people that will be using the projects we are working on
- there is that little extra "ownership" and personal pride that go into your improvements.
As in past years, when a specific project is defined, we will provide a proposal with our tasks and costs.
In looking ahead, following are a few areas we can assist the City in 2011. We base this around the three legs
of an inter-related and balanced City: Infrastructure, Planning & Zoning, and Financial:
Capital Improvements Planning - Infrastructure
We have worked with Staff and Council liaisons in looking out and planning improvements to its
existing infrastructure. This measured and targeted approach has resulted in important updates to the
City's roadway, storm drainage, water, and wastewater systems. Using this approach, these
improvements have been accomplished while working within the City's budget.
Assistance with P&Z — Planning and Zoning
The City has a strong P&Z, and we welcome the opportunity to participate and provide input.
Infrastructure should and does inter-relate to P&Z.
Looking for Funding Assistance - Financial
Do nothing, initial, and longer-term costs need to be considered in any improvement. If the City so
chooses to look into these various financial factors, we can provide that service. Also, we have in-
house funding assistance expertise to round out funding for a variety of improvements.
It has been a pleasure working with the City of Pequot Lakes. If you would like to meet with us to discuss our
services, we are always available. We look forward to continuing our past working relationship and being of
service to you in 2011.
Sincerely,
WIDSETH SMITH NOLTING & ASSOCIATES, INC.
, r,
„
% ,
Timothy M'.
