...
December 15, 2010
The Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of Pequot Lakes
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
RE: Engineering Services for 2011
Dear Mayor and Members of the Council:
Brainerd Baxter
7804 Industrial Park Road
PO Box 2720
Baxter, MN 56425-2720
Tel: 218-829-5117
Fax: 218-829-2517
www.wsn.us.com
Widseth Smith Nolting would like to thank you for the opportunity to provide the City of Pequot Lakes with
engineering service this last year. We believe we have been responsive to the City's needs and have provided
the City with sound professional service at a good value. We respectfully request reappointment as the City's
Engineer in 2011.
In light of the tough economic times we are all facing, we have kept our 2011 rates the same as last year.
As you do not have a full time City Engineer on staff, we believe we benefit the Council and its citizens in the
following ways:
➢ Assignment of Two Engineers With the Benefit of Their Knowledge and Experience
We do not just assign one Engineer to serve the City. Tim Houle (primary) and Mike Rude
(secondary) have been specifically assigned to Pequot Lakes; we are familiar as possible with the
engineering-related issues. In case one of us is not available, the other can assist the City.

➢ No Charge Attendance of Council Meetings
Tim and / or Mike will attend your monthly City Council meetings at no charge. This helps us
understand the background of the issues you are facing and we can be more focused in our response to
the City.
➢ No Charge for Answering Miscellaneous Questions
Tim and Mike will assist with general questions, emails, and phone calls from City Council Members
and staff. We need to be aware of your concerns to be able to provide appropriate solutions to the
City's needs.
We believe these above non-billed services for our time and engineering knowledge (while you do not
see them, they are measured in the $1,000's) is added value that we need to provide to you as your
City Engineer.
➢ Familiarity With the City Resulting in Efficient and Economical Services
Knowing the City is important. Having served the City for many years, we are familiar with the
community and issues facing Pequot Lakes. We know how the City prefers to see projects organized,
what the City staff can do, and what they need our assistance on. With this above familiarity, we
believe we can be efficient and economical with only those services that the City needs.
engineering architecture land surveying environmental services
/JIDSETH
SMITH
NOLTING
