Of the respondents who discussed actions the <br /> \-- legislature should take, 54%wanted tax reform, including lower taxes, stable taxes,tax incentives, <br /> etc. From there is a dramatic drop to 16%who wanted reduced or better regulations (and less <br /> fees), 13%who wanted more government lending, incentives,training opportunities, and resources <br /> for business development, and 12%want less government spending and smaller government. Next, <br /> 11%cited health insurance reform, 5%wanted the legislature to defend small business (and stop <br /> favoring large business), and 4%want streamlined government (including less forms, easier <br /> rules/regulations to understand). Finally, 3%stated that they want more of a focus on fixing the <br /> economy, and 3%wanted the government to pay more attention to education and developing <br /> Minnesota's infrastructure. Of the few who gave suggestions of what the Minnesota legislature <br /> should not do, an overwhelming 63%of respondents stated they want the government to interfere <br /> less in business. Next 15%wanted less social programs and less of a 'nanny state' mindset, most <br /> often specifically citing frustration with welfare and immigration. 11%stated that they wished the <br /> legislature would be reformed and have less partisanship, and 8%wanted to assert their disinterest <br /> in a government takeover of healthcare. <br /> L- <br />
