� SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2014 PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Akerson, Gardner, Pederson, and Sjoblad Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; Eric Klang, Police Chief; Tom Nelson, Fire Chief; Billy Rickard, Assistant Fire Chief; Justin Burslie, Community Growth; and Tim Houle, City Engineer Call Meetinq to Order Mayor Adams called the meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to order at 6:00 p.m. 1.1. Pledqe of Allegiance Mayor Adams led with the Pledge of Allegiance. �' 1.2. Road Tumback Committee Update City Engineer Tim Houle stated that Crow Wing County has requested a proposal of what the City would like to see on different roadway segments. He explained that the roadway segments are roads that the County is proposing to turn back to the City which includes a segment of Highway 371. The Turn-back Committee has reviewed the roadway segments and put together a draft negotiation document. Tim Houle stressed that this is a negotiation document at this point. The Committee considered the affect that the additional mileage would have on the City in relation to budgets, equipment, and employees. There have been differences of opinion by the Committee relating to the roadway segments. Tim Houle stated that the biggest issue was the present Highway 371 as the Council has not made a decision on whether or not the City wilf accept the highway as a turnback. Council Member Pederson stated that the language in the turnback table states that the City wants to take possession of Highway 371. He suggested that the wording be changed to state "if the City decides to take possession" due to the fact that a decision has not yet been made. The Council concurred with the change.
