� <br />SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br />MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2014 <br />PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br />Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Akerson, Gardner, <br />Pederson, and Sjoblad <br />Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works <br />Supervisor; Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator; Eric Klang, <br />Police Chief; Tom Nelson, Fire Chief; Billy Rickard, Assistant <br />Fire Chief; Justin Burslie, Community Growth; and Tim <br />Houle, City Engineer <br />Call Meetinq to Order <br />Mayor Adams called the meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to <br />order at 6:00 p.m. <br />1.1. Pledqe of Allegiance <br />Mayor Adams led with the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />�' 1.2. Road Tumback Committee Update <br />City Engineer Tim Houle stated that Crow Wing County has requested a <br />proposal of what the City would like to see on different roadway segments. <br />He explained that the roadway segments are roads that the County is <br />proposing to turn back to the City which includes a segment of Highway <br />371. The Turn-back Committee has reviewed the roadway segments and <br />put together a draft negotiation document. Tim Houle stressed that this is <br />a negotiation document at this point. <br />The Committee considered the affect that the additional mileage would <br />have on the City in relation to budgets, equipment, and employees. There <br />have been differences of opinion by the Committee relating to the roadway <br />segments. Tim Houle stated that the biggest issue was the present <br />Highway 371 as the Council has not made a decision on whether or not <br />the City wilf accept the highway as a turnback. <br />Council Member Pederson stated that the language in the turnback table <br />states that the City wants to take possession of Highway 371. He <br />suggested that the wording be changed to state "if the City decides to take <br />possession" due to the fact that a decision has not yet been made. The <br />Council concurred with the change. Discussion pursued on the timing of <br />� <br />
