Box 709 <br /> Pequot Lakes,MN 56472 <br /> Re: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> Potential Ordinance Violation <br /> 4469 Main Street <br /> PIN: 2910200500113009 <br /> Dear Mrs. Conway: <br /> It has come to our attention through a complaint that you are likely in violation of the <br /> City's Ordinance regarding Signs and Outdoor Advertising. <br /> The Ordinance sates, in Section 80.020,that, "The primary intent of this ordinance shall <br /> be to regulate signs of a commercial nature intended to be viewed from any vehicular or <br /> pedestrian right-of-way." <br /> The Ordinance further states, in Section 80.050,that, "It shall hereafter to unlawful for <br /> any person to erect,place, or maintain a sign in the City of Pequot Lakes except in <br /> accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance. B. Signs. . . are prohibited within <br /> public rights-of-way and easements and on public property without written permission of <br /> the City. " <br /> The Ordinance further states,in Section 80.070,that, "The following signs are prohibited <br /> in all districts: 13. Portable signs not attached permanently to the wall." <br /> The Jewelry sign placed along County Road 11, a photograph is enclosed, is likely in <br /> violation of these provisions of the Ordinance. Not only are portable signs prohibited, <br /> placing them on a public sidewalk interferes with pedestrian traffic,creating a public <br /> nuisance. <br /> L <br />
