PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
ROBERT AND TAREN SACCOMAN VARIANCE HEARING
AUGUST 15TH , 1995
The hearing was called to order by David Oien on August 15th, 1995
at the Pequot Lakes City Council Chambers at 6:33 P.M. Members of
the Commission present included Laura Hofus, Carol Robideaux, Mark
Jurchen , and Greg Welu who was a potential appointee to the Pequot
Lakes Planning and Zoning Commission.
Taren Saccoman presented the variance request on the lot legally
described as E 56 ' of Lot 1 , and E 62' of N 1/2 of Lot 2 , Block
1 , and part of vacated alley, Cole's Plat of Pequot. Variance is
required as the lot is comprised of 12, 750 square feet and the
code requires 15 ,000 sq ft. to build. Three tax identifiable
lots exist. One lot has an existing dwelling and they wish to
build on the other 2. It was determined that several lots in
the area have dwellings on them with less than 15 , 000 square feet.
Proposed home will be about 1440 square feet and will meet set back
requirements.
No objections were raised by those present nor was there any written
input from the surrounding community.
The commission discussed Policy # 10 . 51 and 1 . 35 regarding hardship .
M. Jurchen moved and C. Robideaux seconded the motion to allow the
variance based on the shortage of square footage which resulted from
the land being platted before the zoning requirements were initiated.
Question was called, and the motion passed unanimously with no
objections.
Hearing was adjourned at 7 :05 P.M. by chairman David Oien.
