Roll call: all
members present.
A request for rezoning or a conditional use permit for a plot of property to allow
operation of a home business from a garage of welding/small engine repair.
The property is owned by Kelly Larson. The business primarily would be for small engine
repair such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, and some welding, this would not include
motorcycles The business would be conducted part-time between the hours of 4:00 p.m.
and 10:00 p.m. inside a 24' by 24' garage. The property is currently zoned medium
density residential. Welu and seconded by J. Thompson that a Hearing be held Friday, April 3,
1998 at 6:00 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
The alterations to the Merritt Jewelry building was discussed. Due to the fact that Don
Merritt, Sr. owns the jewelry store, and Don Merritt, Jr. owns the Hearing Center
building, Jeff Melberg, the Building Inspector felt that the Zoning Commission may need
to make a ruling before he issues a building permit. The commission could not find a
ordinance or condition that would require the need for a variance or any action on their
part.
Motion by J. Thompson and seconded by G. Welu to approve alteration to the Merritt
Jewelry building. Motion carried unanimously.
