You're in depth on-site tour was
very helpful. We were quite surprised at the area the city covers. I have included
a siren survey map showing the coverage the city would receive by one centrally
located Federal 2001 at one of the locations we looked at.
The 2001 is a 128 db rotating siren that covers around 5,400 ft. radius
with 70 db at the outer perimeter. The 2001 has become the most
purchased siren in the industry with well over 13,000 units in service
worldwide. I have enclosed a 2001 Users List for the 1,000+ units in
our Minnesota, North Dakota, and Western Wisconsin territory in case
you had questions regarding this sirens reliability or wanted to visit a
neighbor on test day to see one perform. Some of the nearest users
include: Baxter, Crosslake, Deerwood, Crosby, Garrison, etc. Last year
Xcel Energy purchased 150+2001's to replace the sirens in the #
Monticello and Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant EPZ Zones.
As discussed the 2001 is available in AC, DC, and AC/DC models. The AC
model operates on 240-volt single phase power. If power is lost the siren will not
operate. The DC model operates on 4 deep cycle batteries that are constantly
being charged by 120-volt power source. In the event of a power failure the siren
would operate for a minimum of 15 minutes on the charged batteries. The AC/DC
model uses AC as primary power and switches to battery only after a loss of
power— providing true battery backup.
Federal Outdoor Modulator
AC or DC Electronic
Warning Siren Electro/Mechanical
Systems
ro
