REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: December 21, 2006
Subiect: December 21" Council Agenda Items
Agenda Item#2—Fire Department Remodel
Members of the Fire Department will be present to talk about the remodeling project. I
understand that they would like to move forward and complete the entire project at once.
A couple of issues the Council may want to consider include:
• Funding—Is the funding available?
• Fire Board—Does the Fire Board need to be informed of this decision?
• If the City will be contributing to this project, will the room be available for use
by all departments of the City?
Agenda Item #3 —Cole Memorial Grant
The City has been awarded a grant in the amount of$41,165. This is a matching grant of
which a majority of the match will be paid by the Historical Society. They City will be
responsible for a small portion of the match(which has been budgeted for in 2007).
The project consists of purchasing and installing an elevator and replacing all of the
windows in the building.
COUNCIL ACTION: Council motion to accept the grant and entering into a letter of
agreement.
Agenda Item#4—General Fund and HRA Lew
The Truth In Taxation hearing was held on December 4th. The Council received no
negative comments at that meeting. The proposed levy for 2007 is $1,360,000 which is a
4.6% increase from 2006. This levy generates a City tax rate decrease in two of the
taxing districts as shown below.
