� <br />� <br />� <br />City of <br />Pequot <br />La.kes - <br />Date: <br />AGENDA ITEM #9.3 <br />REPORT TO <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />October 2, 2012 <br />Subiect: Acceptance of Land Donation <br />Report: As in the information packet of the September 4, <br />2012 Council Meeting, the City has been approached <br />regarding a land donation that would encompass <br />approximately 64 acres of land on the east and west sides <br />of the south end of Mayo Lake. This land is in a <br />Conservation Easement with the Minnesota Land Trust that <br />severely restricts what can occur on the land. The Pequot <br />Lakes Park Board has studied the easement and feels the <br />donation would be ideal for a rustic park that would allow <br />hiking during the year and snowshoeing and cross-country <br />skiing in the winter. No motorized vehicles are allowed <br />under the rules. This rustic park would be similar to the <br />Uppgaard Wildlife Management Center in Ideal Township. <br />Maintenance would be minimal. At present, the Park <br />Board plans only to provide two or three benches along the <br />trail. Paul Sandelin, City Attorney, states this acceptance is <br />legal. <br />
