STAFF REPORT
Item: Crafter's Mall,Trimming of Trees and Outside Storage
Agenda Item:7(c)
Background: Staff has been contacted by the owners of the Crafter's Mall to see if they could
trim trees that lie within the Mn/DOT right-of-way. Mn/DOT has approved the trimming of the
trees.
We asked representatives of the Crafter's Mall to wait on the clearing so that it could be
reviewed by the Planning Commission. We expressed our concern that significant trimming,
even on Mn/DOT right-of-way, could put them out of compliance with the first condition of
their CUP,which states:
1. The applicant shall maintain existing vegetation along the properties boundaries.Pursuant
to Section 5.10,Subdivision 4D, the applicant shall replace or supplement vegetation along the
eastern property line (adjacent to the Paul Bunyan Trail) so as to provide at least 50%
screening of the property. Screening improvements shall be made prior to the opening of the
business.
Crafter'sMall representatives will be present at the meeting to present their proposal and answer
any questions the Commission may have.
A
City of Pequot Lakes Staff Report
April 19,2007 5-1
