3
MINUTES
PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
DECEMBER 14,2006
PRESENT: Bill Habein, Dean Williams, Tom Adams, Tom Woog, Roger Varilek and
Scott Pederson. ABSENT: Mark Hallan and John Derksen.
CITY PLANNER: Charles Marohn, PE.
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Dawn Bittner.
CITY COUNCIL LIAISON: Cathy Malecha.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Woog at 6:34 p.m.
APPLICANT: City of Pequot Lakes
Applicant requests to rezone from Residential and Commercial to Shoreline
Residential. James Sherwood and Curtis Lindel, property owners. Parcel No.:
290221400A00009.
The property owners were not in attendance. Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report.
There was no public comment. The division line between the Shoreline Residential and
Commercial zone was discussed.
JOHN DERKSEN ARRIVED AT 6:41 p.m.
The western boundary should line up with the parcels to the north and south. The
following should be added to Finding of Fact Number 10: The western boundary of the
commercial property is a line between the eastern boundary of the platted Front Street
and the western boundary of the lot to the south of the subject property.
A motion was made by Tom Adams, seconded by Bill Habein,to recommend rezoning
this parcel to Shoreline Residential and Commercial, based on the following Findings of
Fact:
1. The proposed rezoning to Shoreline Residential would be consistent with the
City's Comprehensive Plan as the properties are adjacent to shoreline and some of
them are residential in character.
2. The proposed rezoning to Shoreline Residential is mostly consistent with the
Future Land Use Map, which designates the area adjacent to the shore as
Shoreline Residential. The Future Land Use Map also designates the off-lake
`.. portions of these properties as Rural Residential.
Planning Commission Minutes 1
December 14, 2006
