AGENDA ITEM # 9.4

REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL

Report Prepared by: Andy Schwartz

Date: 1/2/24

Subject: Bobber Tower Maintenance/Repair

Report: The frost jacket around the standpipe of the bobber tower on Front
Street has separated in a couple places. This has been fixed in the past and will
require future repairs as the jacket flanges and associated hardware weaken with
time. Since the tower will no longer be used for water storage, I’m recommending
removal of the jacket and standpipe. I’ve received a quote for $15,000 to complete
the work. We would be responsible for disposing of materials and cleanup.
Currently, there is only $675.00 set aside for maintenance -related costs for the
bobber tower. I did not include this expense in my 2024 water budget, but there is
some leftover money in this year’s budget that may cover the cost.

Council Action Requested: Approval of standpipe removal and consider making
annual contributions to a fund to cover costs of future repairs and maintenance of
the old bobber tower.
