<br />PEQUOT LAKES PARK COMMISSION <br />THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2013 <br />CITY HALL <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Commissioners Karen Ettesvold, Jeff Bruch; Cathy Malecha <br />and Craig Nagel <br /> <br />Also Present: Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; Nancy Adams, Mayor; <br />and Sandy Peine, City Clerk <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br /> The Clerk called the meeting to order. <br /> <br />2. 12/13/2012 Park Commission Minutes <br /> <br /> COMMISSIONER BRUCH MOVED TO APPROVE THE 12/13/2013 <br />PARK COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />3. Welcome New Members <br /> <br /> Introductions were made and Cathy Malecha and Craig Nagel were <br />welcomed as new members. <br /> <br />4. Appoint President <br /> <br /> COMMISSIONER BRUCH MOVED TO NOMINATE CATHY MALECHA <br />AS THE PARK COMMISSION CHAIR. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />5. Women’s Club – Flower Barrels <br /> <br /> Discussion was held regarding the flower barrels that were planted and <br />maintained by the Women’s Club. The Clerk stated that the Women’s Club <br />has disbanded and they will no longer be able to take care of the flower <br />barrels in Trailside Park. Discussion was held regarding the required <br />maintenance. The Commission discussed the idea of locating a number of <br />barrels in one location on top of a patio and near the bike racks. This <br />would prevent the need to mow and weed whip around the barrels. The <br />Mayor noted that this may work, but at the present time, the City does not <br />own the park. She stated that she is in discussions with the DNR <br />regarding the possibility of the city acquiring the park from the DNR. <br /> <br /> COMMISSIONER BRUCH MOVED TO TABLE ANY DECISION ON T HE <br />FLOWER BARRELS UNTIL THE CITY FINDS OUT IF THE PARK LAND <br />WILL BE ACQUIRED FROM THE DNR. COMMISSIONER ETTESVOLD <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />
