MEMO

TO: Pequot Lakes Economic Development Commission

FR: Workforce Development Task Force
Pequot Lakes Thriving Communities Initiative

RE: Statement of Opinion/Input

4/1/17

The purpose of this correspondence is to officially communicate to the Economic
Development Commission on behalf of the TCI Workforce Development Task Force
about the importance of expanding broadband connectivity in the Pequot Lakes area.

The Pequot Lakes community identified “Improving technology infrastructure for
remote workers and students” as the most significant workforce development issue
through the Thriving Communities Initiative (TCI) efforts. The TCI Workforce
Development Task Force met on Feb 23rd and March 23rd to discuss actionable strategies
to address this important issue and believes high-speed connectivity in our industrial
park is a key component of this significant community need. The task force
unanimously agreed to voice this local priority to the Pequot Lakes Economic
Development Commission and to advocate for the commission to work towards one or
more recommendations to the Pequot Lakes City Council and/or other appropriate
institutions of authority. The task force stands prepared to support the development of
specific recommendations if that is requested from the commission.

Please direct any response communication regarding this request to task force co-chairs
Craig Fink (craigfink@live.com) and Amy Sjoblad (asjoblad@mmfcu.org). The task force
is tentatively scheduled to meet on the fourth Thursday of each month.
