<br />MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2017 <br />PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Chair Jurchen, Commissioners Holley, Lindholm, Lubke, Rieck, and <br />Sjoblad <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Others Present: Nancy Malecha, City Administrator/Clerk; Dawn Bittner, Zoning <br />Specialist; Sheila Haverkamp, BLAEDC <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chair Jurchen at 8:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Elect a Chair and Vice Chair for 2017 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER RIECK MOVED TO NOMINATE MARK JURCHEN AS CHAIR <br />OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. COMMISSIONER <br />LINDHOLM SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />COMMISSIONER JURCHEN ABSTAINED. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER SJOBLAD MOVED TO NOMINATE CINDY RIECK AS THE <br />VICE-CHAIR OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION. <br />COMMISSIONER LINDHOLM SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br />5-0. COMMISSIONER RIECK ABSTAINED. <br /> <br />3. Approve EDC Minutes <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER LUBKE MOVED TO APPROVE THE NOVEMBER 15, 2016 <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES. COMMISSIONER <br />LINDHOLM SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> <br />4. Street Quadrant Improvement Suggestions <br /> <br />Nancy Malecha explained the Council’s decision to look at the quadrant including Old <br />Highway 371, South end of Government Drive, East Woodman Street, East Butler Street and <br />South Washington Avenue for a bonding project. The Council wanted to focus on this area <br />as the Thriving Communities Initiative wanted the City to start looking at gateways into the <br />community and the Council thought this was a good area to begin. The Council asked for <br />feedback from all Boards and Commissions and other organizations as to what the <br />improvements should entail, what is beneficial for this area. There are stormwater issues and <br />water and wastewater improvements that will be needed.
