PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING APRIL 18, 1995 The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning Commission was called to order by Chairman D. Oien on April 18 , 1995 at 6: 45 p.m. at the Pequot Lakes city hall . Roll call showed K. Cummings , J . Oraskovich, D. Oien, C. Robideaux, and M. Jurchen all present . Motion by J. Oraskovich and seconded by M. Jurchen to approve the minutes of the previous meeting as presented. Motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Motion by C. Robideaux and seconded by K. Cummings to table the pipeline ordinance drafting until the regular May meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Mr . Marlow Shaffer was present and the Commission discussed his questions regarding the industrial park ordinance . The Commission agreed to hold a public hearing on May 9, 1995 immediately following the rezoning hearing scheduled for 6: 00 p.m. to amend the industrial park regulations as follows : 1 . Section 9 : 10 - Building Width, Minimum under LI to be removed and Building Square Footage, Minimum of 5 , 000 sq. ft . to be added to LI . 2. Section 9: 10 - Rear Yard, Minimum Setback from 20 ' to 10 ' in LI . 10' setback will be measured from edge of 40' tree buffer line which surrounds the outside perimeter of the industrial park. 3 . Section 15 . 16b - Changed to read: Loading and service areas shall not face directly on a public street where ever feasible . Loading direclty facing a public street must be reviewed and approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission. Maneuvering and truck loading areas shall be at least fifty percent (50%) screened. Screening materials are limited to the planting of trees or shrubs and berming. 4 . Section 15 . 17d - Added: Outside storage shall be limited to 30 days . 5 . Section 15 . 18b - Changed to read: Not less than 30% of the total property owned by each tenant shall be landscaped. 6. Section 15 . 18f - Deleted. 7 . Section 8. 20 - Misc. corrections of land use classifications . The commission discussed Nancy Gutz ' s request to amend the sign ordinance. After some discussion, the commission instructed the Zoning Administrator to send Ms . Gutz a letter explaining that she would need to apply for a variance to erect a sign, and informing her that the rezoning hearing on her property has been scheduled for May 9 , 1995 at 6:00 p.m. NEW BUSINESS The Commission reviewed a letter from MN Dept . of Transportation which stated they had no comments on the proposed industrial park platting. Motion by M. Jurchen and seconded by K. Cummings to have the city engineer review the ordinance and add the necessary language to address the problem of stormwater runoff in Exempt Commercial districts . Motion carried unanimously.
