Marketing Ideas deas Nancy Adams talked about the positive effect of marketing for the City. She mentioned that the City's web site has a list of events. Nancy talked about the differences in the membership numbers of the Nisswa Chamber versus the businesses in Pequot who are members of the Chamber. 6. Business Retention and Expansion Program Sheila Haverkamp explained about the business retention and expansion program. She noted that the program focuses on existing companies and in ways to help them to grow and expand. She indicated that BLADC has visited several businesses in Pequot Lakes and invited the EDC members to be involved in the visits. It was the consensus of the EDC that they would like to be involved. 7. JOBZ Discussion—Cross-tech Sheila Haverkamp gave an overview of the JOBZ program in the Brainerd Lakes Area. She stated that Cross-Tech plans on purchasing land in Crosslake to expand its existing operations. She explained that Cross-tech has requested to use JOBZ acres for the process. She noted that since Crosslake does not have JOBZ acres, BLADC is requesting to allocate 10 of Pequot Lakes' JOBZ acres to Crosslake for Cross-tech. The Commission discussed the issue and had no problems with the request. SMITH MOVED TO RECOMMEND THAT THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE RESOLUTION PRESENTED BY BLADC TO TRANSFER JOBZ ACRES TO CROSSLAKE FOR CROSS-TECH. ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 4. Next Meeting Date The next meeting is scheduled for September 16, at 8:00 a.m. Nancy Adams indicated she would attend the Council meeting to give an update of the EDC meeting—specifically the facility plan discussion. 5.
