Marketing Ideas <br /> deas <br /> Nancy Adams talked about the positive effect of marketing for the City. She <br /> mentioned that the City's web site has a list of events. Nancy talked about the <br /> differences in the membership numbers of the Nisswa Chamber versus the <br /> businesses in Pequot who are members of the Chamber. <br /> 6. Business Retention and Expansion Program <br /> Sheila Haverkamp explained about the business retention and expansion program. <br /> She noted that the program focuses on existing companies and in ways to help <br /> them to grow and expand. She indicated that BLADC has visited several <br /> businesses in Pequot Lakes and invited the EDC members to be involved in the <br /> visits. It was the consensus of the EDC that they would like to be involved. <br /> 7. JOBZ Discussion—Cross-tech <br /> Sheila Haverkamp gave an overview of the JOBZ program in the Brainerd Lakes <br /> Area. She stated that Cross-Tech plans on purchasing land in Crosslake to expand <br /> its existing operations. She explained that Cross-tech has requested to use JOBZ <br /> acres for the process. She noted that since Crosslake does not have JOBZ acres, <br /> BLADC is requesting to allocate 10 of Pequot Lakes' JOBZ acres to Crosslake <br /> for Cross-tech. The Commission discussed the issue and had no problems with the <br /> request. <br /> SMITH MOVED TO RECOMMEND THAT THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> APPROVE THE RESOLUTION PRESENTED BY BLADC TO <br /> TRANSFER JOBZ ACRES TO CROSSLAKE FOR CROSS-TECH. <br /> ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 4. Next Meeting Date <br /> The next meeting is scheduled for September 16, at 8:00 a.m. Nancy Adams <br /> indicated she would attend the Council meeting to give an update of the EDC <br /> meeting—specifically the facility plan discussion. <br /> 5.
