Project buformation
Cross-Tech plans on purchasing land in Dean Eggena's privately developed Business Park and
expanding to meet the needs of their growing business. Cross-Tech will be constructing a
24,000 square foot building and purchasing new equipment.
As a result of this expansion,Cross-Tech will increase their current employee base of 16 full-
time to 21 full-time with the potential for more into the future. The capital investment for this
project, along with the job creation potential, is of great benefit to the local communities.
However, because the manufacturing climate has been vulnerable due to economic variables in
the past several years especially for those manufacturers wishing to make large capital
investments in projects, Cross-Tech Manufacturing is requesting JOB Zone benefits to assist
with their proposed project.
Job Creatiotu Inforunation
Cross-Tech Manufacturing is estimating a minimum of 5 jobs will be created as a result of this
expansion within the first two years of operation at their new facility. The starting wage will be
$12.50 per hour plus benefits which equals on average about$5.00 per hour.Employees will
have health and paid vacation benefits. All positions in the JOB Zone designated area will pay
$11.21 per hour or more as required by the State of Minnesota JOB Zone program (wage and
non-mandated benefits).
Business Subsidy Requirements
According to state law, communities who desire to provide business assistance, including JOB
Zone benefits, need to comply with the business subsidy law, hold a public hearing for the
individual project(in most circumstances) and enter into a business subsidy agreement with the
business receiving assistance.
Relocation Agreement
Cross-Tech Manufacturing is relocating from the City's current business park and is required to
enter into a relocation agreement with the Department of Employment and Economic
Development(DEED).
JOB Zone ProcesslJOB Zone Modification/Call for Public Hearing
The land proposed for this project was not part of the original JOB Zone application submitted
by Region 5;therefore a JOB Zone modification is required. This process is outlined in the
timeline. A resolution to support the modification is needed by the City of Crosslake,City of
Pequot Lakes,Crow Wing County, and School District#186.
If the City Council agrees with this request, BLADC asks that the City of Crosslake take action
to adopt the modification resolution. Presentations would then be made to the City of Pequot
`.. Lakes EDC and Council Members, Crow Wing County Commissioners, and School District#186
Board Members. The following is the proposed process:
