EXCERPT FROM MINUTES - MARCH 18, 2008 EDC MEETING <br /> 7. Downtown Plan Update <br /> Chuck Marohn presented the downtown plan to the EDC for comments. Mr. <br /> Marohn indicated that the Planning Commission has reviewed the plan and feels it <br /> is an economically viable project. He further noted that the Council has requested <br /> the EDC to consider the plan prior to the Council making a decision on the plan. <br /> Discussion was held regarding the funding of the plan. The Committee felt that <br /> although funding could be an obstacle,the plan is very important for future <br /> growth of the City. The EDC felt that further study by a committee may be <br /> necessary regarding the implementation of the plan. <br /> NANCY ADAMS MOVED TO SUPPORT THE DOWNTOWN MASTER <br /> PLAN AND TO ENCOURAGE THE COUNCIL TO SUPPORT THE PLAN <br /> WITH FURTHER STUDY BY A COMMITTEE FOR A PLAN OF <br /> ACTION TO IMPLEMENT THE DOWNTOWN PLAN. MARK JURCHEN <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> \., EXCERPT FROM MINUTES -APRIL 10, 2008 COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 5.3. Economic Development Committee <br /> Mark Jurchen updated the Council on the March 18, 2008, Economic <br /> Development Committee meeting. He discussed the issues of health care, <br /> the business inventory, business brochures, the small cities development <br /> grant, the downtown plan and the industrial park expansion. Mr. Jurchen <br /> noted that the EDC made the following recommendations: <br /> • Hold off for one year to proceed with the grant Small Cities <br /> Development Grant <br /> • Secure a grant to design a business brochure <br /> • Support of the Downtown plan and form a committee for further <br /> study <br /> Mark Jurchen asked the Council what direction the Council would like to <br /> see the EDC follow. Council Member Nagel suggested that the EDC <br /> continue to work with the existing businesses. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE EDC TO <br /> LOOK FOR A GRANT FOR A MARKETING BROCHURE. COUNCIL <br />
