Economic Development Committee <br /> March 18, 2008 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> ----------------------------------------------- <br /> Sheila Haverkamp reviewed the proposed agenda for the next EDC meeting in <br /> April. She reminded the EDC that the meeting will focus on the subject of a <br /> potential Industrial Park expansion. <br /> S. hlventory Update <br /> The EDC watched a video presentation by Lakeland News that focused on the <br /> EDC's efforts in conducting an inventory of businesses in the City. With the <br /> inventory complete the EDC discussed the next steps to be taken. Nancy Adams <br /> suggested the following steps: <br /> I) Look for grant finds to put together a marketing brochure <br /> 2) Host a "coffee" and Invite all of the businesses to a morning "coffee <br /> meeting" to explain the EDC's efforts in promoting business <br /> 3) Ask the Chamber if they would include all of the retail businesses in the <br /> City in the Chamber's retail group <br /> MARI{ JURCHEN MOVED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH SECURING A <br /> GRANT FOR A BUSINESS BROCHURE. JUSTIN BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> Elissa Rogers indicated that she would contact the University of Minnesota to talk <br /> about the possibility of doing a market area profile for the City of Pequot Lakes. <br /> G. Small Cities Development Grant <br /> Sheila Haverkamp informed the EDC that it may be best for Pequot Lakes to <br /> consider delaying the small cities development program for one year. She noted <br /> that it appears that the City would not have enough time to put a grant application <br /> together do to the timing of the highway decision and the downtown plan <br /> progress. She indicated that Brainerd is ready to do their program this year and <br /> would trade this year for next year with Pequot Lakes. The EDC concurred and <br /> felt that by next year the City would be in a better position to make application for <br /> the grant program. <br /> 7. Downtown Plan Update <br /> Chuck Marolul presented the downtown plan to the EDC for comments. Mr. <br /> Marohn indicated that the Planning Commission has reviewed the plan and feels it <br /> is an economically viable project. He further noted that the Council has requested <br /> the EDC to consider the plan prior to the Council making a decision on the plan. <br /> Discussion was held regarding the finding of the plan.
