ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> MINUTES <br /> MARCH 18, 2008 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Mark Jurchen, Justin Bolz-Andolshek, Nancy Adams <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Patrick Smith, Ed Larsen <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Mayor Cathy Malecha, City Clerk Sandy Peine, Zoning <br /> Administrator Dawn Bittner, Sheila Haverkamp and Elissa <br /> Rogers, BLADC <br /> 1. Cali Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting Nvas called to order by Justin Bolz-Andolshek at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider 2/19/08 and 2/26/08 EDC Minutes <br /> MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE 2/19/08 AND 2/26/08 <br /> MINUTES. NANCY ADAMS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. Health Care Discussions and Presentations <br /> Lila Moen and Bill Palmer were present to discuss the Health Care trends and <br /> needs in the area. Mr. Palmer indicated that an assessment of the entire health care <br /> system in the Crow Wing County area will be completed. He noted that there will <br /> be an Urgent Care located in Cub Foods in May. Sheila Haverkamp noted that the <br /> committee has discussed the need for all expansion in health care services in the <br /> Pequot Lakes area and noted that the location of Pequot Lakes would serve many <br /> other surrounding areas. Mr. Palmer indicated that satellite growth is limited by <br /> demographics. Lila Moen noted that there is a shortage of a doctor in the Pequot <br /> Lakes Clinic and that they are working a recruiting another doctor. Mr. Palmer <br /> further noted that there is an overall shortage of family practice and internal <br /> medicine doctors. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp stated that EDC wants to look at the Health Care arena as an <br /> economic development opportunity for the City of Pequot Lakes. She further <br /> noted that the EDC is exploring the possibility of locating an assisted living <br /> facility in the City. <br /> Justin Boiz-Andolshek thanked Lila Moen and Bill Palmer for meeting with the <br /> Economic Development Committee. <br /> `— 4.
