STAFF REPORT
Item: New Zoning Map
The Staff has prepared a New Zoning Map based on the zones described in the recently adopted
Ordinance and the Future Land Use Map in the Comprehensive Plan. At this meeting (June), we
will present the New Zoning Map to the Planning Commission and the public, and take any
questions or comments from the public and the Commission about the map and the rezoning
process.
At the Planning Commission meeting on July 21, 2005, a public hearing will be held to rezone
all of the properties in the City to those indicated on the map. Should any resident find issue or
contest the rezoning of their property, we propose to remove these properties from the discussion
and adoption of the zoning map at the meeting in July. We propose to hold separate public
hearings for the rezoning of those properties at a later date. Anyone who would like to have a
separate public hearing can sign up on a form that will be available at City Hall. The resident
need only to include his name and property ID number on the form.
Using this method, we should rezone the majority of the properties in the City at the initial public
hearing in July. Other properties will be rezoned as meeting time permits on the Planning
Commission public hearing schedule.
To facilitate the rezoning process, the Staff has also prepared a digital version of the Old Zoning
Map, combining the two paper zoning maps currently being used by the City. A list of all the
properties has also been prepared, showing the parcel ID number, the owner, the old zoning
class, and the new zoning class for each property. Two tables have been produced, sorting this
list by property ID number and by the owner's last name, in order to make it easier for residents
to use and find information about their property.
Copies of all of the maps and additional information are available at City Hall and online at
www.pequotzoningmap.info.
June Staff Report 9-1
