_
Staff Follow-up
Applicants: David and Jean Buck
Application: Variance to construct within the shoreline setback, variance to construct
within the side yard setback and variance to exceed 25% impervious coverage.
Commission Members Tom Woog and Karl Moon met with Staff and Mr. Buck on-site
October 22, 2004 and agreed to the following terms:
1. The existing railroad tie retaining wall will be replaced with keystone rock.
2. The new keystone rock retaining wall will be higher than existing wall to create a
berm to withhold and contain stormwater runoff from the site so there is no direct
flow of stormwater from the home into the lake.
3. One 4-foot tree will be planted and maintained until mature between the home
and the new retaining wall.
4. Native deep-rooted shrubs will be planted and maintained along the new retaining
wall.
5. A sketch plan will be submitted by property owner prior to the February 17, 2005
regular Planning Commission meeting indicating the placement and species of the
tree and shrubs.
. Attached is a copy of the sketch plan submitted by Mr. Buck, which indicates the
following:
I. Sixteen honeysuckle dwarf shrubs are to be planted along the retaining wall, 3
feet apart.
2. One 4-foot green ash tree to be planted between cabin and shrubs.
3. Retaining wall will be 50 feet in length and approximately 3 feet high.
4. Retaining wall and shrubs to be completed by August 1, 2005.
Action: Accept or reject sketch plan.
Staff Recommends another site visit in early August.
