This plan was
approved by the Minnesota Department of Health in 2003. Part 1 of the Plan was
prepared by the Minnesota Department of Health which delineates the Drinking Water
Supply Management Area(DWSMA). A map is enclosed indicating the DWSMA area.
I am contacting you to make the Planning Commission aware of the DWSMA. I am
confident that you will make good land use decisions that could adversely affect the
city's wells. I am also aware that you are discussing a new land use and subdivision
ordinance. I would offer my input and support in preparing ordinances that help maintain
our wellhead protection plan.
The wellhead protection committee meets each quarter of the year and is in continuous
work of implementing the wellhead protection plan. I also have enclosed our brochure
for the wellhead protection plan. This brochure is available throughout the community at
government offices, local businesses, and city hall.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the Pequot Lakes City Hall.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely, -
BRETT TWARDY
Water/Wastewater Superintendent
BT:nmr
Enclosures
