City Council Minutes <br /> December 14, 2004 <br /> Page 3 <br /> -------------------------- <br /> Brett also noted that out of 32,000,000 gallons of water, the billing <br /> accounts for 30,605,000. <br /> The Council discussed the proposed increase and noted that it is not <br /> nearly enough to cover the needs for future improvements. The Council <br /> suggested that no decision be made on the increase until after the City <br /> Audit. <br /> 6. Consider Purchase of Civil Defense Siren <br /> Chief Forsberg presented the Council with information on the civil defense <br /> siren. He explained the difference in cost from a wood pole to a steel pole <br /> and the difference in an AC siren and a DC siren. The Chief indicated that <br /> he is recommending the purchase of a DC siren at $10,547.38. Chief <br /> Forsberg indicated that he was working with Minnesota Power to acquire a <br /> pole and installation at no cost. He recommended upgrading the pole in <br /> length at a cost of$500. The Chief indicated he is also working on a grant <br /> in the amount of up to $6,000 with Crow Wing Power to help with the cost <br /> of the siren. <br /> The Council discussed the funding options and decided to order the siren <br /> `.- at this time and to discuss funding options after the Chief finds out the <br /> results of the grant. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER JOHNSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE <br /> PURCHASE OF A NEW DC CIVIL DEFENSE SIREN AND WOODEN <br /> POLE AT A TOTAL COST OF $14,667.38; <br /> $10,547.38 — DC SIREN <br /> • $3,620 — INSTALLATION OF SIREN <br /> • $500 — UPGRADE FOR POLE LENGTH <br /> TOTAL - $14,667.38 <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 7. Resolution for Block Grant <br /> The Police Chief indicated that the Police Department has received a <br /> grant in the amount of$11,500 for one in-squad digital camera and one <br /> Tough-book laptop computer. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 04- <br /> 36 AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR LOCAL LAW <br />
