November 29, 2004
Mayor and City Council
City of Pequot Lakes
4638 County Road 11
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: Zoning Administrator's Report
Dear Mayor and City Council:
The Planning Commission met for their regularly scheduled November meeting where
they held one public hearing and reviewed one metes and bounds subdivision application.
Unless the decision of the Planning Commission is appealed, the subdivision application
does not come before you. The Planning Commission is forwarding you the following
recommendation for your consideration:
1. Rezone from Waterfront Commercial to Residential,Wilderness Resort
Villas LLC,applicant. Wilderness Resort Villas LLC owns the former
Wilderness Point Resort and the adjacent parcel formerly owned by Gerald
Foley. The Resort property is currently zoned Waterfront Commercial and the
Foley parcel is currently zoned Residential. Wilderness Resort Villas LLC
would like to subdivide the Foley parcel, but need to acquire approximately
7,000 square feet of the Resort property. The subdivision meets the
provisions of the Ordinance.
The Planning Commission is unanimously recommending that you approve
the rezoning to Residential.
The Planning Commission met and discussed Section IV of the DRAFT Land Use and
Subdivision Ordinance. The next work session is scheduled for December 9, 2004, at
6:30 p.m. Section VII, Performance Standards and Section VIII, Special Provisions will
be discussed. The City Council is invited to attend these sessions to offer your comments
and suggestions.
