To: City Council
From: Brett Twardy
Monthly Water/Wastewater Report
July 2004
Water Plant: All working fine. Filters backwashed on a weekly basis, has dropped
manganese levels significantly. General housekeeping in order.
Fire Hydrants and Water Mains: All working fine. Tower good. Contacted electrician
about freezing protection. Will install conduit in August. Repaired broken hydrant valve
standpipe at Hydrant #20 on Morehouse Drive. (Don Messick's)
Ponds/Blowers: Spray Irrigation on schedule. Irrigators having several problems such as:
flat tires, blown valves, emergency relays, and electrical motors having to be replaced.
Lift Stations: L.S. #4 Industrial Park had stuck check valve, but is now in working order.
L.S. #3 Main Lift has had the new impellers, heaters, and electrical sensors repaired. All
Lifts working excellent. Added L.S. Degreaser/Deoderizer in L.S.#2 and#4 due to grease
and odor caused by high humidity.
Sanitary Sewer: Infratech jetted and cut roots on entire sewer main from the school to
the UBC Lift Station#2. They also jetted Rae Ave. Will bill Precision Waterjet for
additional costs. Several sewer back-ups. (Bev Williams and Richard Markham) One was
city's responsibility, the other was not. See enclosed Back-up sheet.
General Comments: Cell phones not working properly. Not all messages being
received. Reception not that great. New city truck working great. Winch has been used
many times: repairing tires, lifting heavy objects. Still no word on Tina's possible
deployement. Due to the fact that Nancy Caputa is leaving, Tina,Nancy R., Sandy, and
myself will be training on Water/Sewer Billing.
Sincerely,
Brett Twardy
Water/Wastewater Superintendent
