Minutes of the Pequot Lakes Library Board of Directors' Meeting
Of Tuesday, November 19
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
All Board members present: John Longnecker, Claire Nagel, David Anderson, Jean
Clark, Lavone Sullivan, Renee Moodie and Sam Hennies.
Minutes of the October meeting were approved by Jean Clark and seconded by David
Anderson. All ayes.
Reports:
• David Anderson gave the treasurer's report. We have a balance of
$29,467.04 in our regular library checking account. In endowment
certificates we have $73,535.68. There is $10,176.15 in our Rainy Day
CD. That brings our total to $113,178.87. In the Friends of the Library
account we have $18,403.03 less $403.03 for operating fund equals
$18,000. The two checking accounts equal $47,467.04. Less approx.
$12,000 to Tri-City for the paving of the parking lot equals $35,467.04.
Less $20,000 for investing, equals $15,467.04 for the total working
balance. Renee Moodie made a motion to add $5,000 to our Rainy Day
Fund, and to use the $20,000 set aside for investing, in the City of Pequot
Lakes Investment Account via Wells Fargo Bank which seemed the best
of the three choices brought to us by David Anderson. Jean Clark
seconded the motion. All ayes. Motion by Renee Moodie to accept the
Treasurer's report, seconded by Jean Clark. All ayes
• Publicity: All is going well. Reminder from Claire to let her know if
something comes up that needs publicizing
• President's report: New business: Parking lot is completed, including
painting of lines. We haven't paid for it yet but will after City Council
meets. We've been having some members of the Breezy Point North Stars,
a junior hockey league (men aged 16-21) volunteer for a couple of hours
on Thursday evenings. Thanks to them! John handed out a copy to each of
us of the new Bylaws.
• Jean Clark reported on the Kitchigami programs. We haven't had a
program since summer. They have not been offered to us. Claire
mentioned that Pine River Library and Crosslake Library both had a
program featuring Lorna Landvik, a very popular writer, but Jean said our
library wasn't offered the chance to have that Legacy program. Jean will
call Marian Ridge, head of Kitchigami Library System, to fnd out why.
Claire Nagel announced that the library will sponsor a Photography
Workshop led by Scott Pederson on Saturday, December 7 at 2:00 pm.
