May 25, 2004
Mayor and City Council
City of Pequot Lakes
P.O. Box 361
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: Planning and Zoning Administrator's Report
Dear Mayor and City Council,
The Planning Commission met for their regularly scheduled May meeting where they
held one public hearing. The Planning Commission is forwarding you the following
recommendation for your consideration:
1. Request to rezone from Forestry to Rural Residential, John Hunter. The
property lies at the intersection of Ackerson Road and Evenson Road in the
northeast section of the City of Pequot Lakes. It is a 40-acre parcel currently
zoned"Forestry". Mr. Hunter would like to have the property rezoned to"Rural
Residential".
After reviewing the application, the Planning Commission is recommending that
you deny the rezoning based off of a finding that the land is not incorrectly zoned
as it is zoned Forestry consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.
If you have questions or concerns on the items in this report or any other issues, please do
not hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at 218-828-6820 or by email at
marohn@communitygrowth.com.
Sincerely,
COMMUNITY GROWTH INSTITUTE
Charles Marohn, PE
City Planner
Cc: Planning Commission
Dawn Bittner,Zoning Administrator
