The Planning Commission has been attempting to resolve an after-the-fact permitting
violation with Roger Rudbeck that was left over from the township. There has been no
resolution and none seems likely. We have consulted with the City Attorney, who has
recommended that the City pursue a Conciliation Court claim against Mr. Rudbeck for
$3,010.60 plus interest and expenses as deemed applicable by the City Attorney. A
conciliation court award is the first step towards securing a lien on the illegally
constructed dwelling so that the City would collect the past due fees when the building is
transferred.
If you have questions or concerns on the items in this report or any other issues, please do
not hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at 218-828-6820 or by email at
marohn@communitygrowth.com.
Sincerely,
COMMUNITY GROWTH INSTITUTE
Charles Marohn, PE
City Planner
Cc: Planning Commission
Dawn Bittner, Zoning Administrator
