Pequot Lakes Library met at Sibley Center on February 24,2004 at 6:30 P.M. <br /> Present.David Sjoblad,Lydia Loven, Claire Nagel,Nancy Adams,Sue Lenzen,David Anderson,board <br /> members. Guest.Cathy Malecha <br /> Minutes of January 13,2004 meeting were approved by motion of Lydia Loven,seconded by Nancy <br /> Adams,all ayes,motion carried <br /> Treasurer's Report was approved by motion of Lydfa Loven,seconded by Sue Lenzen,all ayes,motion <br /> carried <br /> 1. Funds are now under the City of Pequot Lakes. <br /> 2. 40 hours of labor was donated by Moose Bay Builders <br /> 3. Check for$250 was donated by PequotlBreezy Point Chamber of Commerce. <br /> Questions concerning the tax funding and Aidgami Library were raised A call will be put in to the <br /> State Board of Education to clarify. In-Kind services will also be documented and should be added to <br /> the total of funds received Cascade Computer submitted the invoice for the purchase of computers <br /> and equipment,also softwear. Arvig Foundation had stated they would like to purchase something <br /> tangible for the library. David Sjoblad will contact in regard to the purchase of computers for the <br /> library. <br /> A motion was made to hire Moose Bay Builders for the renovation of the library. Motion made by Sue <br /> Lenzen,seconded by Claire Nagel,all ayes,motion carried UBC has donated a set of french doors <br /> for the library,Simonson Lumber has also donated a set of french doors. A list of materials needed <br /> for the renovation was submitted Nancy Adams will contact Matson Lumber to request a donation of <br /> items on the list. The list will be passed to each Board member to contact a lumber company to see if <br /> we can get most of the supplies donated <br /> Basket fund raiser was discussed,list handed out to each Board member. Members should sign up at <br /> next meeting for the basket they wish to donated,also they were invited to encourage friends to also <br /> submit baskets for this fund raiser. <br /> Cathy will write a letter to Crow Wing Power Company to request funds for tables and chairs. A <br /> sample of the carpet will be used for a match and carpet distributors will be contacted for best price or <br /> donation of carpet and services. Shari Wilson and Cathy Malecha volunteered at a previous meeting to <br /> spear-head the renovation of the library,as well as the interior decorating. <br /> Several copies of assorted books in German were given to Clair Nagel for Craig to look at and give the <br /> Board some sense as to the content of these books. They were found in a box of donated books to the <br /> library. Craig Nagel is fluent in German,thus he will be able to give us some needed information in <br /> regard to these books. <br /> Fund raising was again discussed Sue Lenzen stated that Norway Ridge would like to do another <br /> dinner,possibly May 2 as a fund raiser. Price discussed per ticket was$25 per person. Sue also <br /> mentioned that Culvers again would like to help with a second fund raiser. Dave Anderson reported on <br /> his discussion with Dave Gravdahl of Breery Point. Breezy could do a dinner at$20 per plate and <br /> could seat 350 to 400 people. A big band would have to be hired Suggestion of ticket price was$50 <br /> per person in order to come out ahead We had a little difficulty selling tickets for the Norway Dinner <br /> at$20,possibly selling 300-400 tickets at$50 could be a problem. <br /> Information from the State Board of Education was handed out,they included:Essentials for a Basic <br /> Library,Needs and policies of a library,Budget, Volunteer Certification,Assessibility requirements. <br /> Nancy Adams volunteered to condensed these handouts and get to the Board members before the <br /> March meeting. <br />
