AGENDA ITEM #7.6.
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: April 6, 2004
Subject: Support of Street Utility Legislation
Report: The LMC is promoting a legislative initiative that
would give cities a funding tool to meet street
maintenance challenges. The tool would consist of a
street utility fee that would allow cities to establish a fee
program for street reconstruction, maintenance, and
facility upgrades such as traffic signals and turn lanes.
The street utility would enable cities to bill property
owners for street maintenance based on usage.
Council Action Requested:
The LMC is asking cities that support this legislation to
adopt the attached resolution and send it to their local
legislators.
