Under this proposed ordinance/law, the
police can cite someone who refuses to "move along." The
idea of implementing a loitering ordinance came about from
recent number of calls received about pan- handlers and
juveniles hanging out at the dollar store parking lot.
Complaints have ranged from begging, foul language, loud
exhaust, impropriate behavior, fighting and customers being
intimidated by the number of kids hanging out. This ordinance
also came about through collaboration with the planning and
zoning stake holders in an effort to keep are parks clean and
free from damage.
Council Action Request: Chief Klang is requesting a council
motion to approve the loitering ordinance as presented.
