City of
Pequot
Lakes.-
AGENDA ITEM #8.2
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Sandy Peine
Date: November 5, 2013
Subiect: Loitering Ordinance
Report: The loitering ordinance was first presented to the
Council in 2010. The ordinance was reviewed by the City
Attorney at that time. The Council tabled the ordinance because
of a question relating to the use of administrative citations for
enforcement. See information from Council meeting:
Council Member Ryan questioned if the City could use the administrative citation
rather than handling these as misdemeanors or petty misdemeanors.
MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO TABLE THE ORDINANCE TO ALLOW INPUT
FROM THE CITYATTORNEY REGARDING THE PENALTYAND TO
REVIEW THE ISSUE OFADMINISTRATIVE CITATIONS FOR THESE
OFFENSES. COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL SECONDED THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
The ordinance was never brought back to the Council
for consideration. However, the Attorney did include
the suggested language regarding administrative
