2-24-04 To: City Council
From: Brett Twardy
Monthly Water/Wastewater Report
January, February 2004
Water Plant: Had problem with fluoride pump losing prime. Problem is now resolved
by installing new pump kit. Water plant preventive maintenance is taking place. We are
cleaning, finishing meter replacement. Maintenance on pumps, compressors, and
exercising of valves will continue through this month.
Fire Hydrants and Water Mains: Hydrants have been mapped more thoroughly, also
entered into computer as per locations,
Ponds/Blowers: All working well. Contacted Hershel Blasing, regional enforcement
officer for MPCA about the process of the rapid infiltration basin project. Also contacted
Tim Houle with WSN about this project. Tim should have more info about this process
and design through WSN at the March city council meeting.
Lift Stations: Lift station# 1, replaced broken hour meter for pump# 1. Lift station# 2
had stuck check valve, repaired this valve.
Sanitary Sewer: Back up on front street from manholes# 37-38. TDS had slight back up
on carpet in basement no damage reported to city. This problem occurred several more
times due to very cold weather, which caused jetter to freeze up thus not allowing a
thorough cleaning job. ( see attached back-up sheets on details.)
General Comments: Water tower problem has been addressed. Have not heard back
from Automatic systems in regards to alarm back up against freezing.
. Sincerely,
