City of Pequot Lakes
31108 Government Drive,P.O. Box 361
 Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
-_ City Clerk(218) 568-5222 AGENDA ITEM #12.5
Police Dept. (218) 568-8111
Fax (218) 568-5860
E-mail: cityhall @uslink.net
Memorandum
To: Mayor and City Council
From: Sandy Peine, City Clerk
Date: February 3, 2004
Subject: TIF and Ehlers
The attached memo from Ehlers indicates that there have been some past errors
in relation to the City's handling of TIF projects. In 2003, the City hired Ehlers to
complete the reporting requirements of the State Auditor for 2002. During this
process, many other issues have arisen. Ehlers have proposed a plan to clean
up all of the TIF issues and discrepancies and to get the files organized. This
needs to be done and will take quite a bit of work.
The cost to complete the proposed plan could be about $7,650. Ehlers has
begun working on some of the issues due to reporting deadline requirements.
This money should be able to be recovered through TIF administration; therefore,
the City should not have to budget for this.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED:
Council motion authorizing Ehlers to follow the work plan provided to clean up all
of the City's TIF issues and discrepancies with the funds to come from TIF
administration.
