i <br /> City Council Minutes <br /> February 3, 2004 <br /> Page 4 <br /> ---------------------------- <br /> WHEREAS, the through-town route meets MnDOT stated objectives for safety and reduced <br /> congestion and there is little or no advantage in these factors by choosing other <br /> alternatives; and <br /> WHEREAS, the through-town route is consistent with over twenty years of planning by State, <br /> County, City, and Township governing bodies. Business owners made their <br /> decisions assuming certain access to Highway 371, residents bought country <br /> property never imagining a four-lane expressway through their back yard; and <br /> WHEREAS, the through-town route provides the greatest potential for benefits to existing <br /> commercial businesses and displaces the fewest residential and commercial <br /> property owners. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that it is the preference of the City of Pequot <br /> Lakes, as expressed by this duly elected City Council,that Trunk Highway 371 <br /> continue to be located, and any improvements within the City, be made along its <br /> existing alignment. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION <br /> 04-002, SUPPORTING THE THROUGH-TOWN OPTION. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> PFEIFFER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE: — T. RYAN —AYE, M. PFEIFFER, AYE, J. JOHNSON, <br /> AYE, C. MALECHA— NAY, D. SJOBLAD— NAY, J.
