REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Agenda: 7.4. Discussion on Bids and Quotes for City Projects
Date: January 6, 2004
Regarding: Competitive Bidding Requirement for Cities.
According to the Competitive bidding law, cities with a
population of 2,500 or less must bid out anything that exceeds
$35,000 in cost.
The City does not have to bid out anything that is less than
$35,000, however, the city may ask for bids or quotes at anytime.
I have been requested by a few Council Members to bring this
up for discussion. The question at hand is whether the city
should have a policy to bid out all projects regardless of price.
Action: Council discussion on whether or not the City should require
quotes or bids on all city projects regardless of cost.
Motion by: Seconded by:
Roll Call: TR MP JJ CM DS JB-A JA
Report.doc
