Minutes of the Pequot Lakes Library Board of Directors' Meeting
Of Tuesday, October 15, 2013
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
Board members present: John Longnecker, Claire Nagel, David Anderson, Jean Clark
and Sam Hennies. Also present was Jerry Akerson, liaison to City Council
Members absent: Lavone Sullivan and Renee Moodie
Minutes of the September meeting were approved by Sam and seconded by John. All
ayes.
Reports:
• David Anderson gave the treasurer's report. We have $29,112.01 in the
Library Checking account; $73,535.68 in Endowment CDs; $10,176.15 in
the Rainy Day CD for a total of $112,823.84. In the Friends of the Library
account we have to date: $17,729.03. The Treasurer's report was accepted
by Jean Clark and seconded by Claire Nagel.
• Publicity: All is going well. Reminder from Claire to let her know if
something comes up that needs publicizing. She reported that she is now
sending via e-mail the posters for each of our programs to area churches
and resorts.
President's report: New business:
Work on the parking lot was started the second week in October.
The new sidewalk is done. The front sidewalk was widened, and in
the back of the building the sidewalk was made longer. The
blacktopping has not been done yet.
We have a new laser printer, badly needed, the cost of which
was donated. It was purchased from Watt Computer of Jenkins.
The colors needed to finish painting the walls of the computer
room and the kids' room where the doors were removed were
picked out and when purchased, will be applied to those walls. The
use of the new wall space is not determined.
• Jean Clark reported on the Kitchigami programs. There will probably be
no Legacy programs until after the first of the year.
New business:
• Basket Auction was held Sat., Oct. 12, 6-9 p.m. at Deacon's Lodge. We
were down $1,000 from previous years, the net intake this year being
$6,797. We discussed the possibility of not having the auction. We talked
about possible substitutes: golf tournament, a run, a big name show, but
will continue to talk at future meetings about possibilities.
