_ s R DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (EIS) AND PUBLIC HEARING The Highway 371 North Improvement Project Draft EIS was pub- lished on December 22, 2003. Mn/DOT will host a public hearing and open house on the Draft EIS on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at'the Pequot Lakes High School. The facility is handicap accessible. An open house style public meeting will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m, and two identical project presentations will be held at 53b and 7:00 p.m.,which will include an overview of the Draft EIS findings and a discussion of the next steps in the process. Public . comments will be received throughout the evening, either verbally (via a court reporter) or in writing. Also, written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted throughout the comment period, which will remain open until February 9, 2004. All written comments should be directed to:Tony Hughes, Mn/DOT Project Manager,Mn/DOT District 3, 7694 Industrial Park Road, Baxter, MN 56425 or via email at TH371,N @dot.state.mn.us. Residents, business owners, .government officials and other parties living along,; using, or interested in the Highway 371 North Improvement Project are encouraged to attend. The purpose of the Draft EIS is to evaluate the potential social, economic and environmental impacts associated with the five alternatives.,The information presented in the Draft EIS along with.the comments received will be used by the Federal,Highway Administration and Mn/DOT in selecting a preferred alternative.
