Pequot Lakes City Hall
1..
From: "Kim Firkus" <castoffs @tds.net>
To: <cityhall @uslink.net>
Sent: Saturday, December 27, 2003 7:50 PM
Subject: re: Pequot bypass
Hi
My husband and myself live and operate a business here in Pequot...putting a bypass around the town of Pequot would not
only hurt our business, but the value of our home also....say the bypass goes around the town, other business'would build out
on the bypass leaving the business'in Pequot to relocate or close. The value of our home would then decrease and our
business would hurt. I have researched many towns that were bypassed, one such town is Frazee a city board member said
when the bypass went through that several business had to close.Another town is Little Falls, when was the last time you
went into Little Falls.Look at Brainerd, since the bypass around Brainerd there are few business'still there.Just
recentley,Bonkers,Blimpies, and the Dairy way have all closed. I have asked several customers how they found our
business about 30%was from the sign that was seen going by on the highway. Sure we build up cliental each year, but 10 or
more years down the road there is always a new generation of people and a majority of the people traveling this area,if a
bypass would go around Pequot Lakes they would just see Pequot Lakes as another town, not seeing the great town it really
is. Please for the sake of all the business people and the residents and I talk for a majority of them, consider what a bypass
will do to Pequot.Would you want to lose the great business's and to destroy what has taken years to achieve.
Thanks
Dana&Kim Firkus
Castoffs Secondhand
I
i
I
i
12/29/2003
