City Council Minutes January 3, 2012 Page 10 of 11 -------------------- - - - - -- COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO ACCEPT THE PROPOSAL AT $150 PER HOUR WHICH IS THE 2011 RATE. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 5 -0. 11.6. Insurance Agent of Record COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO CONTINUE SERVICES WITH LAKELAND INSURANCE AS THE CITY'S INSURANCE AGENT OF RECORD FOR 2012. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. 11.7. Bobber Water Tower Electricity The Clerk noted that at the last Council meeting the Council tabled discussion of this issue until it could be studied further. The Clerk and the Chamber provided the Council with information regarding the history of the bobber water tower. `- COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO TAKE THIS ITEM FROM THE TABLE. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. Council Member Ryan reviewed the history provided. He stated that the Chamber has spent over $16,000 to maintain and repair the lighting of the water tower. Council Member Ryan stated that he felt the Chamber has met the spirit of the 2006 agreement. He noted that the bobber tower is a City icon and that it may be time for the City to take over the asset entirely. The Mayor stated that the City did not budget for paying the electric bill in 2012. Mayor Adams concurred that the tower has become a City icon and that it may be time to consider taking the tower over. She suggested that the Chamber pay the electric bill in 2012 and the City budget for payment of the bill in 2013 at which time the City could consider taking over the tower. Council Member Ryan suggested using the funds available in the Water Tower Fund to pay for the electricity in 2012. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO PAY THE ELECTRICITY FOR THE BOBBER WATER TOWER OUT OF THE BOBBER WATER TOWER FUND FOR ONE YEAR. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION.
