`-' 5. Ordinance Amendment for the Recreation Zone Section,City of Pequot Lakes.
When the new Land Use and Subdivision Ordinance was reviewed and adopted, a section
describing the recreation zone was inadvertently left out of the Ordinance. As the adoption of the
new Ordinance was partly to correct this same problem in the last Ordinance, and as residents in
the Recreation zone may be seeking to develop their properties, the Staff has prepared this
section. This section is contained herein and is in draft format. The proposed Ordinance
amendment would be entitled Section 5.14 Recreation (R) to be included under Section V
Zoning Districts and District Provisions. The existing Section 5.14 Land Use Matrix would be
revised to become Section 5.15 Land Use Matrix.
The Planning Commission recommends approving the Ordinance Amendment to include a
descriptive section for the Recreation Zone, including the following language:
Section 5.14 Recreation(R)
1. Purpose and Intent: To establish and maintain a land use district for existing uses of land or
for land properly suited for recreational development that is semi-rural in character, allows
public and private recreation facilities and accessory uses, and promotes and maintains
aesthetics in areas that serve as a transitional zoning district between residential uses and
commercial uses.
2. Compatibility: Recreation zones are compatible with and can be established adjacent to
every other zoning classification, and any property that meets the purpose and intent of this
zoning classification may be zoned Recreation.
3.
