We had a mock OSHA inspection here at the fire hall. Findings were that we should keep
`.. our air masks in plastic bags, fire extinguishers should be checked off every month, all
extension cords need to be grounded, and the fire extinguisher on the steel support beam
needs a sign for it that is high enough to see.
Fire fighters are needed to help with the Katrina storm. All donations made to hurricane
victims who will be at Fort Ripley, needs to be sent through the Red Cross or the
Salvation Army.
Sealing the underground water storage tanks was discussed. Chris Carlson will help. The
tanks tops are about 16 inches underground. The time set to do the sealing will be
Wednesday, September 14th, at 5:30 pm.
The roll call form was available for everyone to sign. Also, please sign the sympathy card
for the Sabyan family's loss of Don's wife. Don was on our department for 20 years, and
also served as Fire Chief for many years. He served on the Park Rapids fire department
for another ten years before moving to Pequot Lakes.
Tom wants to get the wall finished under the stairway soon. The area would be a nice
place to store griddles. We will need about three sheets of plywood. Mike Schwankl will
help and be at the hall to start at 5:30 the night of our next training.
Our floating pump needs to be on a truck somewhere. It could be put up on top of the
tender.
We have issued about 10 new pagers in the last few months. There have been no pagers
turned back in. Please bring them back if you have an old pager.
Tom would like to have a current check of everyone's driver's license status. We need a
copy of your license as soon as possible.
The City has adopted a new drug and alcohol policy that everyone should read and sign
off for it. Please turn in your signed acceptance sheet promptly.
The city council approved our donated DNR tanker. We will need to modify the tank and
install a 10 inch dump valve. Roger will help with the project.
Tom asked if anyone wants direct deposit check service from the city. Pat was interested.
We will help with a hurricane survivor's benefit on Friday, September 23rd at Tasty
Pizza. The benefit will be a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 9 pm.
The fire department will have a table at the Taste of Pequot on Saturday, September 17th.
They will sell chili and cookies. Calendars will also be for sale.
