Pequot Lakes Police Dept. Report to City Council October 4', 2005 As of 9/28,for the month of September the Department has logged approximately 180 ICRs. Officer Josh Gardner joined us on 9113.He brings an additional 6 yrs of experience to the Department. Bodywork repairs were done on Squad#3 and the Chiefs Tahoe. Training/Activities: Sept. 14`h—20'': Officer Rich Hogan participated with 3 Crow Wing County Deputies in a Hurricane Katrina Relief effort,helping to transport needed supplies to the Police Department of New Orleans, LA. This effort was a FEMA sponsored program. Oct. 3`d- Deputy Chief John Ryan will attend a Safe School Initiative seminar at Madden's Resort, `School Safety in MN,Lessons Learned'.This program is sponsored by the U.S.Departments of the Secret Service,Education,Attorney's Office and the MN Departments of Education and Public Safety. Tuition and meals for this seminar is$100.00. Nov. 7th- 18th: Officer Josh Gartner will attend K-9 School in,Austin,TX.All tuition and lodging costs for this program total$840.00. Jan 23d—26th: Chief Jerry Braam will attended the MN Chief s of Police Command School in Little Falls. All tuition and lodging costs for this conference will total$375.00. Deputy Chief John Ryan has submitted our first case to the Restorative Justice Project,pending acceptance by the board. Chief Braam will be taking over John Ryan's position on the Board,to avoid a conflict with John working f illtime in the school. Significant Case Files: • An arrest was made in the Jenkins Robbery of the JM Speed Stop service station. The suspect Tim Koch was charged with simple robbery. • Assisted the Lakes Area Drug Task Force with 2 warrant arrest in Pequot Lakes. • Assisted the Paul Bunyan Task Force with a warrant served in Pine River, stemming from an incident that began in Pequot Lakes.
